Local Colour at The Sew Weekly - Fenland Skirt

This week is all about local colour. My tribute to the Norfolk Fens is this skirt made of fabric resembling the carrstone found here and fenlands.  The stone is also known as gingerbread because of it's colouring and the fields around the area are dark and lush - just like the colouring of this fabric. The embroidered lines look like ploughed furrows.  I also like it because I found it in my local fabric shop and like to think I have helped business in some way ....

I don't normally wear browns but I quite like these shades.  They go well with black which is my usual choice of base colour.  I used the straight skirt option of Simplicity easy-to-sew 2257.

  1. Lovely skirt! Really like the mixture of textures and the stitching is funky too!
