Jane is a friend at work and when she told me she was going to be a grandma, I knew I wanted to make a blanket, especially from this pattern which reminds me of the Witney blankets that were around years ago. Not sure if they are still made??? I already had the yarn and it’s perfect as the nursery room is going to be green. Really enjoyed doing this which I could just pick up and put down without too much thought. Another friend Ruth made me the lovely stitch markers to put between my lace pattern repeats which really helped. I did make the odd error here and there but then that’s what makes me human!
Baby Anais arrived safe and well.
The pattern is available as a free download on Ravelry.

Diane,
ReplyDeletethis blanket is beautiful..Love the green color.. Know you enjoyed knitting it.. Babies are such fun.
That is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteWitney Blankets is no more, sadly.
I just did a web search - the Witney Blankets Company does still exist and they start at £75. They have a satin bound edge - which explains why I remember them. I had a scrap of blanket which I used to call my 'satin' when I was little - it was my comfort blanket!
ReplyDeleteIts so delicate and sweet x
