It's been quite quiet on the sewing front lately but here's why. As well as finishing my City and Guilds Module 5 (photos to come), I've also been busy with this. The cushion is inspired by an Aran knitting exercise in Module 5 and it's a gift for someone taking part in the Olympic or Paralympic Games. The project has been organised by Woolsack.org and knitters all over the UK have been making cushions in 100% British wool as a welcome and for Olympians to take home with them. I'm wondering who will get mine ... I was able to leave a message on it and hope I'll get to find out ... Anyone else wanting to take part has until 22 August 2012 to get their cushion knitted and sent to an address in London in time for filling and sewing up. Visit the Woolsack website for more information.
(Actually, I think I deserve a medal for getting this finished over the weekend - I'm a bit cross-eyed now!)

Mystery revealed ...
My lily skirt ... as featured on Sew Weekly last week ... perhaps one of the only good things to come out of all this rain we're having here in the UK, though it is supposed to be summer next week, fingers crossed!

Shoes...
Clarks shoes (UK) have a great sale on at the moment, of 50% or less. I found these Liberty Art Print pumps (sneakers USA ...) for less than half price - great with jeans! They have sandals with fabric decorated wedges too.
They're yours Rachel ...
Hi Rachel of House of Pinheiro - congratulations, the postcards of London and handbag pincushion are yours! It was a completely random selection but I'm glad that you won in a way because I met you in London and I also really enjoyed the pincushion swap you hosted. Anyway, if you'd like to email me details of your address then I'll happily get them to you. I do have some details already but am not sure they are current.

GIVEAWAY ALERT! - Draw now closed
As I've now exceeded 10,000 blog viewings and around this time last year I'd only just started blogging, (entirely by accident!), I've decided it's time for another giveaway.
All you have to do is leave a comment about your favourite bag. Why do you like it so much and what do you look for in a new handbag, tote bag (any kind of bag really!)? I don't mind if you're a follower or not, but of course I'd prefer it if you were ... it's a bit frustrating when it comes to the point of giving away and there's no answer from the person who's won ... Anyway, because of my fondness for bags in general, then I have this cute handbag shaped pincushion to give along with a box of retro style postcards of London. I think they've been produced to celebrate the Jubilee and Olympics - I kind of fell in love with the images when I saw them so it's going to be hard to part with them...
Look forward to hearing from you! Can you let me know how to contact you if you don't have a blog I can get through to? Just send me an email (mine's on this blog). Good luck - I'll draw an answer at random...

ACID
No, not an invitation to a rave (!), but a serious issue ANTI COPYING IN DESIGN. ACID is about Intellectual Property and recognition for the designer. UK Business Secretary Vince Cable has just proposed a change to copyright laws and you can add your support at: epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/26273.acid.eu.com. There's also an ACID, 'Commission it, Don't Copy it!' campaign supported by Baroness Wilcox, Minister for Intellectual Property.
Think twice about publishing and distributing someone else's work without getting their permission first.
