More Lovely Swaps

People who make things are the best.  Don't you think so?  I do.  Here's another gorgeous swap parcel, from Tanya Maile Hughes, again in California.  (I am beginning to 'know' a lot of people from that area).  She blogs over at:
missushughes.wordpress.com

We were swap partners in the 'Winter Sewing Swap 2013' - so called because it was run from New Zealand by Penny from Dresses & Me (who I won the Tiramisu from and is also having a whale of a time in London at the moment).

I've just received this sumptuous sequinned silk from Tanya, enough for a shirt from my favourite T 'n' T pattern.

Then there are the patterns - I love the 60's one, particularly for the cardigan, as I so need some accessories for my dresses when the weather gets cooler.  The shirtdress is a favourite style for me too and I know just the fabric to use ... as yet unblogged from Goldhawk Road.

I also have notions - the 'make your own covered buckle and belt' kits look fun and are just the thing for the shirtdress pattern, as is the 'covered button' set.

In the background of the notions photos is a length of dark green herringbone weave fabric with a shiny kind of substance about it.  There's loads of it and I'm thinking along the lines of a trenchcoat, which I have a pattern for.

Finally, a lovely note from Tanya on a Jane Austen card and some homemade pot pourri from her rose garden. Such a beautiful gift.

I look forward to keeping in touch with Tanya.  She writes an interesting and varied blog - as well as being a talented 'maker' she writes about her life in general, particularly her work with rescue dogs.  There are some gorgeous photos on there.  Thanks so much Tanya  :-)

  1. I'm glad you like your swap goodies! I can't wait to see what you make with that silk! That's a good idea to make a trench out of the Herringbone. I wish I would have thought of that! Lol! :) The sewaholic robson would probably look good! Thanks again!
